Guidelines & Application

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES:

The American-Lebanese Awareness Association, Inc. (ALAA) has been formed to conduct programs of informational value pertaining to cultural and educational topics regarding Lebanon and the Middle East; to recognize the accomplishments of American-Lebanese in the area; to assist qualified students who reside in New England and who are of American-Lebanese descent through a program of scholarship awards; to provide a forum for speakers of reputation and accomplishments; and to participate and assist in civic, cultural and charitable programs of benefit to the Merrimack Valley in general and to the American-Lebanese population as applicable.

ALL CRITERIA MUST BE MET IN ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE

Instructions:

In order to be eligible for consideration for scholarship assistance in the fall, Sections 1–5 of this Application must be completed in full, mailed and postmarked on or before March 1, 2017 and forwarded to ALAA, P. O. Box 2244, Methuen, MA 01844.

If selected as a recipient, you or a representative are required to attend the annual scholarship banquet, as a guest of the ALAA, scheduled for Sunday, June 11, 2017 in order to receive your scholarship, or you will forfeit your scholarship award.
Please note that hand-delivered applications will not be accepted. Incomplete applications will not be eligible for consideration for scholarship.

All application and supporting materials become property of the ALAA.
Applicants must meet the following criteria for eligibility:
1. Must be of Lebanese ancestry and reside in New England.
2. Must be a full-time student in an undergraduate college or will attend college in the subsequent year as an undergraduate.
3. Must not have already received two awards in his/her lifetime.
4. Must include with application an official, sealed transcript of grades through the most recently completed
semester of high school or college.
5. Must include with application a wallet-sized photo of applicant only.
6. Must be a member of the ALAA, so applicant’s family member may apply for membership concurrently with this application. The membership application is found  at   http://www.americanlebaneseawarenessassociation.org/about/membership-alaa
